Late last night a group of Norwegian teenagers arrived to stay the night at the Guest House. At breakfast we had some time to speak to them and they were going to head off to Mombasa.

This morning we had an early start and were picked up by a car at 7.30. After filling up the car we picked up Mary and Thomas and headed towards the town of Kisimenyi.

Visiting schools

This morning we were picked up at 10 African time (10.35 in reality) and headed to Kalela primary school where four of the orphans are attending.

A new home

This morning we headed out to Abdallas home where he is living with his grandparents. We were shown the bed, mosquito net and metal box that the orphans receive when they are entered in to the project.

Today we headed in a different direction than before, and traveled on the road towards Tanzania. We were on our way to visit one of the Home Based Carers in the project, also named HBC.

After the project

This morning we headed out in a TukTuk towards Voi town. Today was dedicated to meet some of the orphans who have completed the project.

Interviews & market

This morning Mary and Tomas came to the Guest House to be interviewed bout the project. On Fridays and Tuesdays the big market in Voi is held.

Rest day

This morning I woke up feeling really sick. I had fever, shivering, cold sweats, dizziness and felt very weak. Initially we had planned to go to the lodge today, but due to the state of me we cancelled our plans and decided to have a rest day at the Guest Hosue.

Kenyan hospital

This morning Catalina woke up with the same symptoms that I had been experiencing for the past two days. In addition I had been awake all night cold sweating so I was not getting any better.

Update

Our final week in Voi did not turn out the way we had hoped for. After our first hospital visit both of us got worse and on Wednesday we returned to the hospital once again.

This morning we were picked up by our driver at 10 am to head to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Elephant Orphanage.

This morning we took an Uber to the Hub Mall in Karen, as we had to get some things for our upcoming trip.

Joining the tour

On Sunday we had a driver pick us up and drive us to our new hotel. At six o’clock the same evening we had a welcome meeting with our tour guide and met up with the rest of the group.
